4 Shreds / Chaos

Décollage is the opposite of collage: the difference between assembly and erosion. This is a physical excavation of the conceptual surface. I peel away strips of paper to show the images that have been transferred in the process. This is when the piece finally reveals itself. The act of shredding is a rejection of perfectionism and meditation on how memory truly operates. It is flawed, broken, sometimes unintelligible, and full of missing pieces. The resulting textures are the remnants of these images. The work suggests that memory, much like history, is not a smooth, singular timeline, but a resilient architecture built from what manages to survive the erosion of time.
